NEC Regional Documentation and Information Centre


  • North Eastern Council Secretariat Library, popularly known as NEC Library and officially termed as Regional Documentation and Information Centre (RDIC) was established in the year 1974-75. Since then, the centre has built up a very respectable collection of documents of research, studies and reports on various aspects of potentialities and development of this region besides setting up a Library-cum-Reading Corner. It has stock of more than 60,000 books, 10000 reports, plan documents etc. of 8 States of Northeastern region, and subscribes to 90 numbers of Journals, both national and international, on various subjects related to its main objectives. The centre is subscribing to 15 numbers of daily and weekly newspapers and 12 numbers of Magazines. It has a huge collection of documents or books related to North Eastern region.

    NEC Library provides various services to its readers, such as Photography services, Reading Service, Newspaper/Magazine service, Ready Reference Service, E-resources through DELNET consortium etc. Library is also provides Internet Surfing facilities to its users on some terms and conditions.

    This Library is also connected to the larger world as a Member of IASLIC (Indian Association of Special Libraries and Information Centres), Kolkata and DELNET (Developing Library Network), New Delhi.
