The North-East Resource Centre (NERCEN) has been established by the North Eastern Council (NEC) under the guidance of the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India. It serves as a catalyst for the transformation of India's North-East region by creating the right mix of opportunities, manpower, technology, and sector-focused growth.
NERCEN operates across key sectors including agriculture, education, healthcare, tourism, rural development, irrigation, sports, handloom & handicraft, and science & technology. Its functional streams span policy formulation, project planning, capacity building, and data analytics.
Mandate:
NERCEN functions as the planning, executing, and knowledge arm of NEC, aligned with the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER). It delivers high-impact, multi-state regional solutions and state-specific outcomes — including a dedicated focus on Sikkim — to accelerate balanced, secure, and sustainable development across the North Eastern Region.
Core Objectives:
- Strategic Support to NEC: Develop comprehensive sectoral strategies, feasibility studies, and innovative financing models; support procurement, convergence of schemes, and performance monitoring.
- Policy & Analytics: Formulate actionable strategies, master plans, and delivery roadmaps with measurable KPIs; drive cross-government coordination and international collaboration.
- State-Level Assistance: Help states identify priority areas, unlock unique selling propositions, prepare project documents, and align policies with emerging trends.
NERCEN is envisaged as a catalytic body for regional development, and is committed to enabling a dynamic ecosystem that integrates opportunities, skilled manpower, sectoral innovation, technology infusion, and strategic policy planning to accelerate inclusive growth in the region. The North-East Resource Centre (NERCEN) has been established by the North Eastern Council (NEC) under the guidance of the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India.
